The age that Edo was called the 'Land of the Samurai' is long gone. The skies of Edo are not for the samurai's dreams, but occupied by fleets of the 'Amanto'. Everybody makes way for the Amanto, as they walk through the city. The samurai have lost not only their status, but also all of their pride…One day, a customer named Ken Kato visits an odd-jobs freelancer, Gintoki Sakata, for help.

Episode 1

Shinpachi's father held his pride in his sword, even after the 'Amanto' took over Edo. His samurai soul was passed down to his children in his last moments. Shinpachi gets a job to protect his late father's dojo, but the Amanto scoff him off. During those hard times, Shinpachi coincidentally meets Gintoki Sakata, the 'last samurai' with charming naturally wavy hair.

Episode 2

It has been half a month since Shinpachi started working at the Yorozuya, but he is already starting to regret it…until one day, he accidentally hits a girl with his scooter. As Shinpachi and Gintoki hurry to the hospital with the injured girl, they are interrupted by a sudden gun shot. In the midst of the chaos, the girl wakes up and instantly rescues the Yorozuya pair.

Episode 3

One day, a scooter barges into Snack Otose, a bar located one floor below Yorozuya. Gintoki is asked by the driver of the scooter to deliver a package to the Inuisei Embassy. However, the package suddenly explodes, and Gintoki is mistaken for a terrorist. As the Yorozuya crew start giving up hope as they are being accused of bombing, an old friend comes to their rescue.

Episode 4

After saving the people from the bomb, Gintoki and his crew are interrogated by the police, but eventually let go since Shinpachi gets outraged. As Shinpachi storms out the police department, Gintoki and Kagura are left behind, and they encounter an escaped prisoner on their way. The prisoner takes Kagura hostage, and orders Gintoki to help his escape by driving the police car.

Episode 5

Prince Hata's pet goes missing. As the Amanto orders a wide search, the immigration office asks Gintoki to help. Although he refuses at first, he quickly changes his mind when he is offered a huge cash reward. The Yorozuya start their mission to find the pet, but their efforts do not yield any fruit. Gintoki puts his last hope in his secret weapon, but…

Episode 6

As the Shinsengumi are working day and night to keep Edo safe, their leader, Kondo, falls in love at first sight with Tae. She rejects his marriage proposal with a punch, but Kondo does not take no for an answer and continues to try getting her attention. Tae finally loses her patience and asks Gintoki to trick Kondo into giving up, but the situation takes an unexpected turn…

Episode 7

Kondo is defeated in the duel, and the reputation of the Shinsengumi is in danger since the duel was also televised. Hijikata, the team's number two, wants to restore their honor by pursuing the silver-haired samurai who clinched the battle. Their extensive search eventually reaches the city. On the other hand, the clueless Gintoki was busy with a job offer from a contractor.

Episode 8

Prince Hata returns to Edo. The prince is still hurt from his loss of Pesu, and is on a search for a new pet. Meanwhile, Kagura finds a very large dog in front of the Yorozuya. Kagura begs to keep the cute animal as her own, and names it Sadaharu, despite Gintoki's refusal. Kagura quickly becomes attached to Sadaharu, while Gintoki and Shinpachi suffer Sadaharu's vicious bites.

Episode 9

When Gintoki and Kagura visit Shinpachi at the hospital, they get hired for a job from an old man: to find his long lost love of his life. The only trails they have are a hairpin (kanzashi) and the fact that the woman used to work at a dango store. The Yorozuya crew set off on a search, but soon hit a dead end. Kagura has Sadaharu sniff the kanzashi to see if he can find any traces.

Episode 10

Otose hires an Amanto named Catherine to work at her bar. Seeing Catherine work diligently, Otose takes a liking to her. On the other hand, Kagura's enormous appetite makes finances tight at the Yorozuya, forcing Gintoki and Shinpachi to starve. Meanwhile, multiple robberies occur in the stores nearby, and the police seek help at Snack Otose.

Episode 11

Yorozuya is asked to look for the daughter of a government official who has gone missing. After taking on the offer, Gintoki and his crew head to a club the girl's used to frequently visit. Bored of detective work, Kagura tries to bring back a doppelganger, who turns out to be a man. However, the man seems a bit off, and she finds out that a suspicious drug has been popular around town.

Episode 12

Gintoki and Katsura shoot down an alien fleet, which makes the anti-government group Joi Shishi more active. Due to growing concerns, the Shinsengumi is ordered to do bodyguard duty for deputy officials. One day, Kagura rescues a girl who was bullied at the park. The girl seems to be in trouble, and asks the crew to be her friend for one day.

Episode 13

As Gintoki is exhausted looking after Sadaharu, Katsura visits him along with a strange space animal. Its name is apparently 'Elizabeth', and Gintoki is surprised at Katsura since he usually dislikes space animals. Katsura and Gintoki find out there is a TV program offering a large prize for strange creatures, and decide to go on the show.

Episode 14

Kagura finds Hasegawa sitting in sorrow in a park during the day. After asking what happened, Kagura learns that Hasegawa has been fired from the immigration office and calls out to him. He is ordered seppuku, and plans to flee at night, only to find that his wife will not follow him on his escape from authorities. Having lost everything, the only thing he gained was a friend.

Episode 15

As the festival where the Shogun will participate nears, Otose drags the Yorozuya crew to make a complaint to an inventor, Gengai Hiraga. He has been making monstrous noise throughout the neighborhood while creating inventions of junk, and Otose finally lost her patience. The Yorozuya decide to match the noise with karaoke, but a robot called Saburo comes to get in the way.

Episode 16

Shinpachi returns home with a doll that looks like Elizabeth, which has a name tag that says 'Space Monster Stephan' on its chest, that he brings as a gift for his sister. However, Tae is outraged for some reason and attacks Shinpachi with a sword. He is able to dodge her attack, but the doll takes its toll. The reason for Tae's rage was because her underwear had been stolen.

Episode 17

After losing big at pachinko, Gintoki and Shinpachi regret their actions for a second, but change their minds when they hear of a bounty on an alien in the ocean. The Yorozuya crew head to sea and aim for their big prize, but the beach is empty with no sight of any rivals. The crew meets an old man near the restaurant by the shore and learns the truth behind the bounty.

Episode 18

The Shinsengumi enjoy horror stories on a hot summer night. Inayama's story is about a female ghost wearing a red kimono who appears at a Terako-ya at night. As the troops enjoy listening in on the story, the same ghost appears in their quarters. More than half of the mighty troop faint of terror, all mumbling of the 'woman in red'. They call the 'Ogami-ya' for help, but they seem slightly shady…

Episode 19

In the midst of the summer heat, Yorozuya was steaming up with no air conditioning. Desperate for some cool air, Gintoki and Kagura fight over a fan and end up breaking the precious machine. Gintoki sets out to find a new fan, but fails to find one at any store. He eventually reaches a second-hand store called the Earth Defense Base. Gintoki enters the store, not knowing what awaits him…

Episode 20

Shinpachi arrives at work, and when he tries to wake Gintoki up, he finds an unbelievable sight: Gintoki is tangled up with a female ninja in bed. The woman calling herself 'Sacchan' claims that she and Gintoki pledged marriage the night before, however, deeply hungover Gintoki has no recollection. Sacchan ends up staying at the Yorozuya, but things take an unexpected turn after one phone call.

Episode 21

Kagura returns from her shopping with an unusually big attitude. She had won a trip to space at the town lottery. However pets are not allowed on board, making it impossible for Sadaharu to accompany his favorite owner. As Kagura argues with the staff, Sadaharu bites a man sleeping in the lobby. Not knowing where their pet went, the crew sets off into space.

Episode 22

Mademoiselle Saigo is Kabukicho's Top 4 drag queen, and Gintoki winds up working for her because he insulted the famous drag bar owner. As he enters the bar, he runs into Katsura, also dressed up in drag. Katsura claims he is planning to escape, but he clearly seems to be enjoying his new job. One day, Gintoki and Katsura witness Teruhiko, Saigo's son, being bullied.

Episode 23

The Yorozuya enjoy a rare special treat: a sukiyaki hotpot. But the feast quickly turns into a battle over who gets the most meat, and Gintoki and Shinpachi's betrayal to Kagura ends up with the hotpot being ruined. Kagura instantly realizes that they had turned their back on her. In the midst of the chaos, Shinpachi tries to come up with a policy to safely distribute the meat.

Episode 24

The Yorozuya help Hasegawa's convenience store called the Oedo Mart. However, Gintoki and Kagura are not up for the job, and their lack of motivation causes trouble. Shinpachi, the only diligent worker, apprehends a shoplifter, who turns out to be his childhood friend. Shinpachi finds out about his old friend's past, and tries to rescue his friend out of an infamous gang.

Episode 25

Shinpachi and Kagura are heated up in watching a female pro-wrestling match, while Gintoki is not so into the sport. The crew encounters Okita at the venue, and is invited to an underground fight club. Okita is disgusted that the bloodshed duel is shown as entertainment, and asks the crew to find out about the fight club by talking to the strongest fighter at the club.

Episode 26

A person who is a Virgo, has a beard, and is brushing their teeth right now will die today...' While brushing his teeth, Kondo lets out a dry laugh as he overhears the TV. At that moment, Matsudaira bursts in, yelling, and starts shooting his gun. Apparently, word has gotten out about the Shinsengumi's involvement in the underground fight club.

Episode 27

An Amanto spends his evenings in search for a legendary sword that even cuts through a star. While continuing his training, he has been on a search for a weapon that matches his strength. The Yorozuya becomes chaotic with Kagura's scream. Gintoki and Shinpachi come to help, but quickly turn back when they see an unexpectedly giant cockroach.

Episode 28

Gintoki and Shinpachi are both devastated to hear the news that their celebrity crush has found true love. Kagura sneers at the sight of two heartbroken men. Just then, Tsu shows up at the Yorozuya. She has been receiving numerous letter of threat since her love life had gone public. Shinpachi decides to help the lady in serious turmoil, and the crew start to act as bodyguard Otsu.

Episode 29

Gintoki heads out on his bike to buy JUMP, but gets hit by a car and loses consciousness. Shinpachi and Kagura rush to the hospital and find that Gintoki has complete amnesia. Gintoki completely changes his personality; from having eyes like dead fish to a kindhearted young man. Shinpachi and Kagura take Gintoki back to the Yorozuya in hope of bringing back the old Gintoki.

Episode 30

Two weeks pass since Gintoki declared the disbandment of the Yorozuya. While Kagura sits in the remains of the almost ruined Yorozuya, Shinpachi tells her that he will not give up on waiting until Gintoki gets back his memory and returns to his old self. Meanwhile, a Shinsengumi spy sneaks into the Viper's factory and meets Kondo, who has also lost his memory.

Episode 31

Gintoki returns from amnesia and attempts to reset his overdue rent in celebration of his recovery, but Otose does not budge, and tells him that he has to leave if he does not restore the Yorozuya within one week. The crew reluctantly try to do carpenter work, but the work is beyond their abilities, and frustration rises within them. Gintoki then receives a package from Sakamoto.

Episode 32

The appearance of a new idol puts Tsu's popularity in danger. Her fan club, including Shinpachi, gets into a heated up conversation about the new idol. Shinpachi then runs into a cat-eared girl in town, and falls instantly in love. The girl asks Shinpachi on a date, and he rushes to an online forum for dating advice, not knowing that it will turn out be a big mistake.

Episode 33

Matsudaira call the Shinsengumi leaders to Ikedaya, and tell them that the time has finally come for battle. Not knowing who their enemy is, Kondo and his crew swear to the service for Matsudaira. They soon find themselves in an amusement park, where Matsudaira's daughter meets a man. Matsudaira has planned an assassination of the man getting close to his daughter.

Episode 34

As Tae and Oryo are walking home from work, they catch a new hostess, Hanako, trying to kill herself. After a successful rescue, Tae takes the hostess to her home. Hanako explains she was taken in by a strange cult that has taken all her money that she had saved up to pursue her dreams to be a dancer. The Yorozuya crew go undercover into the cult to find out what is happening inside…

Episode 35

On a snowy winter night, Gintoki runs into an old man in red and a reindeer bickering at each other. The man is in despair that his sled is broken. Gintoki offers to help and brings a cart instead of a sled, but the man is concerned that his image will be tainted with a different vehicle. After being persuaded, a very shady crew in black begin their mission to deliver dreams.

Episode 36

Edo is covered in snow, and Tae's voice heralds the beginning of the festival. The festival involves making snow sculptures with a cash prize for the winner, and Gintoki and the Yorozuya participate. Gintoki and the Yorozuya are called by the young master of the fireworks shop 'Kadoya' and go to his mansion. There, they encounter an old man the young master introduces as his father.

Episode 37

Katsura attempts to break through the Shinsengumi's inspection and injures his foot. As he tries to flee, he is mistaken for a panty thief by a local ramen shop owner. While Katsura is served ramen the following morning as an apology for the mishap, the store is bombarded by the shop owner's step brother. He learns that the shop owner is a widow, and they start to live together.

Episode 38

While the movie, 'Alien vs. Yakuza', is a huge hit, an alien secretly enters the city of Edo. The Shinsengumi set up a perimeter to contain alien invasion. Meanwhile, Kagura gets taken by a scam call and runs to the bank. Unluckily, the alien is hiding there, and Gintoki and Shinpachi rush to her rescue. At that moment, the Umibozu appears in front of them.

Episode 39

Kagura is at the spaceship port with her father, Umibozu, feeling dejected. Shinpachi, enraged to hear Gintoki has fired Kagura, tells Gintoki how much Kagura thought about the Yorozuya, and threatens to leave as well. Meanwhile, in the cargo hold of the spaceship about to launch, Prince Hata's grandfather accidentally breaks a bottle. This was the beginning of chaos…

Episode 40

Amidst the chaos, Gintoki appears at the terminal with Sadaharu, and is immediately swallowed by the alien's tentacles. Meanwhile, Umibozu finds Kagura injured after trying to help Prince Hata and his grandfather. However, Kagura stops him, and suddenly the alien attacks. Just as she seems done for, Gintoki and Sadaharu come to the rescue. In the sky, the fleet led by Matsudaira appears.

Episode 41

As Umibozu embarks on his journey, Kagura decides to stay in Edo. Seeing her friends feeling down at Snack Otose, Kagura spies on them from outside the window. However, the sadness of Kagura's absence quickly shifts to other topics. Eventually the conversation turns to selecting a new member to fill the void in the Yorozuya. Who will be chosen as the next heroine of the Yorozuya.

Episode 42

Katsura attempts to rescue Elizabeth from the evil Toyama, and tries to bribe the Yorozuya with food to take on the mission. The Yorozuya expectedly accepts the job, and visits Sacchan for help. After learning some ninja skills, the crew try to infiltrate the office of Toyama. However, Zenzou and his crew block their path. The Yorozuya crew plan to defeat their enemy using curry.

Episode 43

One night, Gintoki returns home extremely drunk, and finds Sadaharu has gone enormous. The crew tries to find out the cause, but continues to fail while Sadaharu grows bigger. When the gigantic Sadaharu is aired on TV, all of Edo is shocked, and people crowd the Yorozuya. Seeing rocks being thrown at Kagura, Sadaharu decides to make a move.

Episode 44

Ane has to give up the shrine to pay for the damages caused by Sadaharu. She begins working at Smile, and her popularity puts Tae in jeopardy. Ane and Tae constantly clash, and when Tae beats up one of Ane's regular customers, the owner of the bar decides to put an end to the rivalry with a battle. Whoever has the lower sales tomorrow will be fired.

Episode 45

The Yorozuya crew suffer from hay fever, which seems worse than ever: so bad, that Otose had to temporarily close her bar. One day, a sinister-looking Amanto comes to town and opens a flower shop next to the Yorozuya. This flower shop was the source of all the pollen. The Yorozuya suspect that the Amanto came to weaken the people with pollen, and fear alien invasion.

Gintoki and Hasegawa head to the casino, dreaming of making big money without working. They bet big, but end up losing their clothes until they are only left with underwear. Suddenly, a famous gambler steps in to help them. With the gambler's advice, Gintoki and Hasegawa try again with Black Jack, only to lose the same way.The gambler helps again, and they find out the true source of his strength.

Episode 48

Gintama has entered its second year of broadcast! Although the transition was relatively smooth, Gintoki and the Yorozuya can't feel safe enough for a secure renewal. The series started off with high expectations, but ended up facing many hardships. At this turning point, Gintoki proposes what needs to be done.

Episode 49

A baby is left at the Yorozuya with a note saying, 'This is your child'. With its curly silver hair and dead fish eyes, everyone is certain that it is Gintoki's secret child. While the Yorozuya crew is all over the baby's charm, Gintoki takes off with him. Meanwhile, Kahei visits to request a search for his kidnapped grandson, Kanshichiro. Otose senses something fishy.
