Hwang Hee Tae, a medical student, travels to Gwangju to fulfil a patient's last wish. On the other hand, Kim Myung Hee gets selected for a university but doesn't have the funds to get there.

Episode 1

Myung Hee takes her friend Soo Ryeon's place on a date where she meets Hee Tae. While Myung Hee tries to make a bad impression to end the date quickly, Hee Tae does something crazy.

Episode 2

Hee Tae is taken aback when Myung Hee tells him that they should stop seeing each other. He keeps finding reasons to meet anyway. Soo Ryeon's brother, Soo Chan, throws a business party. 

Episode 3

Hee Tae volunteers to help Myung Hee with her work to spend time with her and suggests that they keep seeing each other for the month of May. On the other hand, Soo Ryeon gets a mysterious call.

Episode 4

Myung Hee decides to put her emotions for Hee Tae aside for Soo Ryeon and asks him to get engaged to Soo Ryeon. Later, Myung Hee and Soo Chan meet in Seoul. 

Episode 5

Hee Tae and Myung Hee run away from the engagement, deciding to give their love a chance. However, their dramatic exit gets noticed, causing trouble. Later, Soo Chan calls Hee Tae for drinks. 

Episode 6

Myung Hee's dreams to study further seem impossible as she gets into trouble with Hee Tae's father, Hwang Ki Nam. Meanwhile, Soo Ryeon learns of Myung Hee's troubles and talks to her brother.

Episode 7

Myeong Hee and Hee Tae bid adieu to their families, deciding to shift from Gwangju to Seoul. However, as they travel across the city preparing to leave, they sense things are far from normal.

Episode 8

A sudden revolt in Gwangju leads to an overflow of victims in the hospital. Hee Tae and Myung Hee put their plans on hold and stay back to help. Hee Tae learns his way around the emergency room.

Episode 9

Things become worse in Gwangju as the military troops open fire on the civilians. Hee Tae realises that they have to leave the city, but their plan fails again as Myung Hee receives devastating news.

Episode 10

Myung Hee decides to stay back at the hospital, despite her family's plea to get away. On the other hand, Hee Tae is saved by Ki Nam, who takes him away from the hospital. 

Episode 11

Hee Tae and Myung Hee marry each other with the prayers they wrote. However, their tender moment is cut short with tragic news. The year changes to 2021; Hee Tae gets a message from his brother.
