The film is based on a story written by celebrated writer Saadat Hasan Manto and is directed by Ketan Mehta. Set in the partition era, the film revolves around the feelings of pain and displacement Bishan Singh and his inmates at a mental asylum in Lahore experience after the government decides to send some patients to India following the independence of Pakistan.
